Privacy policy

What Friends of Foodie collects, why, and who can see it.

What we collect

Your name, email address and profile photo from sign-up. The bio you write. Your approximate location, either detected from your internet connection or the city or ZIP you type in. If you browse without an account, we use your connection's approximate location to sort the feed and don't save it. The listings, photos, messages, reviews and reports you post.

How we use it

To run the marketplace: show your listings to nearby neighbours, sort the feed by distance, deliver your messages, show ratings on cook profiles, and review reports. We don't sell your information and we don't show ads.

What other people see

Your display name, profile photo, bio, city, listings, reviews and member-since date. Your exact location and street address are never shown. Messages are visible only to the two people in the chat and, when a chat is reported, to moderators.

Who helps us run the site

Clerk handles sign-up and sign-in. Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the database, messages and photos. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email and profile photo with us. If you type in a city or ZIP, it is sent to a geocoding service to look up the coordinates.

Payments

We don't process payments. Anything you arrange with a cook or buyer, such as cash or Venmo, happens outside Friends of Foodie.

Deleting your account

When an account is deleted, its profile, listings, favourites, chats and reviews are removed from Friends of Foodie.
